Jukka Annala (b. 1966) is a Helsinki-based journalist. For Toopelivisio (The Sillyvision) Annala, a passionate consumer of popular culture, went through countless television and cuttings archives, interviewed the producers of comedy series and watched hundreds of hours of tapes. The Sillyvision digs deep into the roots of Finnish television humour and reveals the creation processes of the well-known characters and sketches. In this book, dozens of actors, scriptwriters and directors talk about their experiences behind the scenes. Annala is known for his first book Salmiakki (Salted Liquorice, 2001 Nemo) which was a candidate for the Tieto-Finlandia Prize (Finlandia Non-Fiction Prize).
